Taking the plunge

Firstly, I am not a writer, however I would like to use this space to try and document this journey for myself, and anyone else who is interested in following along.

After years of constantly putting off buying that nice camera that I’ve always wanted, I decided to finally take the plunge. 2024 was the year for it, I made it one of my goals this year to dive in and explore this little passion of mine.

I’ll start with a little background about me, a 30 year old mum of crazy 2 year old. I’ve been a full time tattoo artist for the last 10 years, with a love of anything creative. I also have a big passion for music and going to gigs.

Before I started tattooing I was a full time family photographer, but my interest for photography started way back in school. If you wanted to find me at school you could always guarantee that I was in the art room. I sunk my teeth into anything artsy and creative, including after school clubs, one of which was a photography club.

I continued to use photography throughout my art, all the way through college and university. It’s always been something that I’ve gone back to and really enjoyed.

So why now?

I feel super lucky that I’ve found myself in a place where a lot of things in my life are very settled and I’m ready to start really pushing myself and what I can do. I finally work in a super creative space, where I’m surrounded by friends that are nothing but supportive and uplifting, friends that have really helped me build up my confidence and push me to do things out of my comfort zone that I’ve always been too scared to do.

I have a beautiful little family, that inspire me to create, they have given me a reason to want to capture every moment and memory. My partner puts up with me constantly wanting to try new hobbies and supports them in any way he can.

All I want is to make my family proud, for my son to see that if you work hard you can achieve anything you want in life.

So, what’s next?

For now, I’m really just enjoying creating. Like most hobbies I start, I always want to turn them into more than that, more than just a hobby. Photography has got me excited and I can’t wait to see where this new venture takes me.
